Ava is (and has been) full-blown into the "what's that?" stage of her tiny life. Everything is a wonder and something to be explored, or asked about a million times over and over and over until we're forced to tell her to stop. asking. (!) On this note, Mike and I have decided that when it comes to most things, we'll be honest and explain to her whatever it is she's curious about.

Which brings me to her current infatuation with the idea of alcohol. Lately we've been on a happy hour binge (yes we bring our children to happy hour, no we don't go to "bars"), and consequently ordering ourselves drinks. (Duh.) This was one of those things Ava wouldn't stop asking about, oh the forbidden drink, even though she knew what the answer was: it's alcohol. Something only Mommy and Daddy drink. She was fine with this, but after the curiosity of it wore off a bit she stopped asking about it and rather started broadcasting whenever this "alcohol" was in her presence.

"That's Daddy's alcohol!"

"That's Mommy's alcohol, Daddy!"

"Daddy drinks alcohol!"

This was rather amusing and we had a bunch of private laughs over it. However, this only lasted so long before she was running around the house with play food cans in hand, singing and yelling:

"I have alcohol! It's so yummy!"

After which she would hurl the play cans at us and run away laughing like a maniac.

Hilarious, no? Obviously she has no idea what alcohol actually is. But I'm not so sure others would find it so funny? Anyway, I've taken too many photos of beer and cocktails (why is it so fun photographing drinks?) and though that I'd post some of them here in tribute to my alcohol-obsessed two year old. (Funny? No, not so much?)
